System requirements

Microsoft ISA Server 2000/2004/2006 (Standard or Enterprise Edition).

Installation

You can install SecureSOCKS5 filter on ISA Server computer, or you can install SecureSOCKS5 administrative snap-in on computer with ISA Management console installed (for remote administration), or you can install both on a single server. Default option is to install both filter and administrative snap-in.

During SecureSOCKS5 filter installation you will be prompted to enter SOCKS5 listen port (1080 by default). If SOCKSv4 filter is enabled in ISA Server then you should select different ports for SecureSOCKS5 and SOCKSv4 filter to avoid conflicts. (Port may be changed later in SecureSOCKS5 filter properties.)

In SecureSOCKS5 for ISA Server 2004/2006 Internal network is selected by default as network from which ISA Server will listen for SOCKS5 requests. (These networks may be changed later in SecureSOCKS5 filter properties.)

NOTE: After installation you may need to re-open ISA Management console to see SecureSOCKS5 filter settings.

Simple test

To check whether SecureSOCKS5 installed successfully and working properly you can always use the following simple test:

1. Run Command Prompt (cmd.exe);
2. Enter 'telnet ISAServerNameOrIP 1080' (without quotes), where ISAServerNameOrIP is ISA Server name or IP address, 1080 - TCP port chosen for SecureSOCKS5. Command Prompt window should become blank;
3. Type '?' (without quotes) and press Enter;
4. If SecureSOCKS5 is working properly then you'll see some common information about it.

Unregistered version limitations

• Unregistered version may be used for 30 days since first installation.
• Unregistered version processes no more than 10 SOCKSv5 sessions simultaneously. (A session is a group of connections that are associated with a particular client.)
